Pole Buildings
What is Pole Building Construction?
The easiest way to explain pole building or post frame construction is to paint a mental picture: take a number of wooden posts, drive them into the ground, attached walls and a roof. Now you've got the idea.
Post frame buildings use a series of treated wood posts, which function as the foundation, structural frame, and wind bracing for the building. Originally referred to as Pole building because of the round edges, today's term more aptly describes the technology of the squared edges of the beams.
Originally developed for agricultural structures, previous pole building techniques made use of pressure treated lumber embedded directly in the soil. Kistler's modern techniques employee a concrete foundation post (Permacolumn®) at the base of each pole.
The use of these Permacolumns® , along with other design improvements in wood building technologies has led to the wide spread use of pole buildings in retail shops, mini-malls, churches, garages, and other buildings.
Why Choose A Kistler Pole Building?
To get right to the point, Kistler pole buildings are more economical alternative than conventional construction. They are highly adaptable in look and style, energy efficient, and take less time to build. And Kistler pole building's are especially eco-friendly by design. |

The Foundation
The foundation of Pole Building construction presents two ways to net substantial savings. First, Kistler uses a pre-manufactured concrete foundation post (Permacolumn®). These concrete posts act as the foundation of the building. This eliminates the traditional continuous concrete foundation and all of the costs associated with extensive concrete work. By removing massive amounts of concrete work, you decrease your construction costs. Major excavation is typically not necessary. Second, you don't have to wait for the concrete to cure, so construction can start immediately. This translates into faster building, which means you can start enjoying your new structure or open your business sooner.
Highly Versatile
Because our pole building exteriors can easily incorporate wood, steel, masonry, and other materials, virtually any color and style can be achieved. This means your new building can be matched to existing structures like your, home, business, horse barn, or others..
Pole building interior finishes are also easily adapted for just the look you're after. The limit lies in your imagination.
Very Efficient
Kistler Pole buildings require about half the construction time of more conventional buildings. This is accomplished through the use of approved post frame designs, which eliminate the need for continuous concrete foundations. Framing and building can begin more quickly and be done any time of year. The materials are less expensive and the average cost per square foot is much lower. For example, an average 30 ft. by 40 ft. pole building can be raised and completed within 120 man hours.
Eco-Friendly
The energy efficient designs and concepts used in our pole building construction translate into lower operating costs. Kistler pole buildings can make use of the latest energy efficient technologies such as Geothermal HVAC and Solar energy. If your operation has special requirements such as LEED compliance, Kistler buildings can meet these as well.
The metal roofing systems used in Kistler pole buildings are durable, long lasting, and made from materials that are recyclable so they are eco-friendly. Our pole buildings are engineered for strength and built to withstand high winds and heavy snow loads.
Less concrete, less lumber, and less labor and more efficient use of materials makes Kistler pole buildings the best choice for an eco-friendly structure.
